The #DuckOfTheDay is a #Pochard.

A based photo of a pochard, floating on lightly rippled water. It is a small diving duck that has an oblong body, black at each end broken by pale grey wings. The head is set back slightly, in line with the change in colour, and is russety red-brown. It has a bill that is black at the base, then pale grey.

In a bit of a twist, today we have a #SundayStonechat, which is obviously #NotADuck. It might be spying for them though.

On a twiggy branch with several wiglets, a stonechat perches. It has a round, reddish body and a black-looking head that's separated by a white clerical collar, and brown wings folded by its sides. The camera was very zoomed in to get this close, and the bird still looks a bit like it might fly off at any moment.

The #WednesdayWaterbird is a #Cormorant, with a message from God - but the #gulls aren't interested.

A little mud-island, with a cormorant at one end holding its winds out as though preaching. A herring gull on the opposite end is facing the other way, and some black headed gulls milling about between them like shoppers ignoring a street-preacher.

Behind a thin veil of reeds, a female mallard floats with her head facing backwards so she can preen her mottled brown feathers with her bill. The bird is in better focus than the reeds: I think I might be improving.
