Future Synology storage systems will require Synology branded mass storage.
I’ve never been a fan of these Taiwanese storage systems simply because file systems and redundancy technology could not be ascertained pre-sale.
Dismal Manor Gang has 2 TrueNAS Mini+ and a 45homelab.com (Storinator mob, storage for BackBlaze) hl4 4 slot available from bare metal to built & burned in Zen4 systems.
apple.newsSynology confirms that higher-end NAS products will require its branded drives — Ars TechnicaFirm will later add "curated drive compatibility" lists after testing.
Very curious if there's an equivalent to B2 in Canada that isn't awfully priced... #backblaze

@burkay #Backblaze wrote regarding their blog post from 2022: "We at Backblaze support a diverse workplace culture. We have people working for us from all over the world, and we do not take race, color, sex, religion, etc. into account when selecting people to work for us. We value different perspectives as this is how we can grow and support each other while creating a product for our diverse customer base." This is imho better than removing anything regarding diversity from their website.

Any recommendations for a good UK / EU alternative to #Backblaze? For backing up 3 Macs, plus I also back up my NAS to B2.
If you're using Backblaze B2 to host your media, you may be seeing errors mentioning "x-amz-checksum-algorithm" or "x-amz-checksum-crc32".
It's a known issue and the Mastodon dev team is looking into it.

In the link above there are some workarounds, like Mastodon locking the S3 gem to a pre-checksum version and some environment variables for your .env.production file.
OVH Object Storage, as per my tests, is not currently affected by this.

I’m getting a lot of Stoplight::Error::RedLight: object-storage and Aws::S3::Errors::InvalidArgument: Unsupported header 'x-amz-checksum-crc32' received for this API call. errors in sidekiq today. My images are all missing.
I’m using Backblaze B2 for object storage.
Any advice on what to do? Thanks!

@jminor Yeah, I’ve seen that. I know I could use that as a start and add something like modification times and sizes (maybe hashes?). It just seems like Backblaze probably already has this on the server end.

I am still looking for good replacement for #Cloudflare , #Backblaze and we need to decide what to do with #Apple iCloud and #Google One, GMail and their other services.
