Uh oh, MARTA's Summerhill bus rapid transit line will not open this year (not even partially).

InstagramAdvance Atlanta on Instagram: "🛑 On Monday, @martatransit officials announced that the Rapid A-Line project, previously referred to as #MARTA Rapid Summerhill, has been delayed due to construction issues. 🚎 The highly anticipated 2025 launch of the Bus Rapid #Transit (#BRT) service in #Atlanta, connecting #Downtown and #Peoplestown, is no longer feasible. MARTA has not revealed a new date since postponing and are reportedly collecting updates from contractors, the city and the Federal Transit Administration to determine when riders will be able to access the BRT. ⭐️ Construction has only been paused at one station, South Downtown (on Mitchell Street at Forsyth Street), as work continues at the other #stations and the #roadway included within the plan."11 likes, 2 comments - advanceatl on April 10, 2025: "🛑 On Monday, @martatransit officials announced that the Rapid A-Line project, previously referred to as #MARTA Rapid Summerhill, has been delayed due to construction issues. 🚎 The highly anticipated 2025 launch of the Bus Rapid #Transit (#BRT) service in #Atlanta, connecting #Downtown and #Peoplestown, is no longer feasible. Denver is building a #BRT line along busy Colfax Ave, and the road is a mess. But with all the orange barrels and work crews, something good has happened. Traffic accidents have plummeted. Reason: With the loss of lanes, motorists are driving slower. What does this tell us? When you design streets “like racetracks” … that’s what you get. denverite.com/2025/03/26/colfa

Denverite · BRT construction has made Colfax a mess. But early data shows it's safer, tooThere have been fewer crashes on Colfax while it's under construction than at any point since the pandemic.

You may be right about Ottawa's BRT capacity. It was designed to be upgradable to rail (clearances, structural load bearing), and the BRT reached 90% capacity in 1996 for the number of *buses* used (180/hr), not for the number of passengers transported (it's been a decade since I learned this stuff, haven't researched since)

And you're absolutely right that Ottawa's LRT didn't need to have the problems it has!
