We're in the Burren in Co. Clare again. It's a very special place. It is the only place in the world where Artic/Alpine and Mediterranean/Subtropical plants grow side by side. This is due to the unique karst landscape and its microclimate. It the home to about 1100 plant species out of the 1400 species in the whole of Ireland. There are also two butterflies that live there - The Pearl-Bordered Fritillary and the Brown Hairstreak which are not found anywhere else in Ireland. 🦋

I love #TheAtlantic, even when it publishes well-written things I disagree with by authors I don't like, but every now and then it somehow lets some absurd moron write and publish something utterly dogshit, and this might be the second worst example of it I've seen: theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/

What the fuck is this? Absurd misrepresentation of inclusive language and some ludicrous misapprehension leading to the idea of the 'woke right'.

A busy #hurricane season is expected. Here’s how it will be different from the last
A warm -- yet no longer record-hot -- strip of waters across the #Atlantic #Ocean is forecast to help fuel development of 17 named #tropicalcyclones during the season that runs from June 1 through Nov. 30, according to Colorado State University researchers. Of those tropical cyclones, nine are forecast to become #hurricanes, with four of those expected to reach "major" hurricane strength.
