Federal Judge Contreras invalidated components of a #Biden-era rule that was finalized under #Trump on #asylum claims — ruling that its restrictions on asylum-seekers violated the clear language of federal #law.
He ruled that it improperly:
1) Barred asylum claims from those who don't arrive at ports of entry
2) Required immigrants to proactively express fear of return, rather than screen all
3) Limited the window to consult counsel to 4hrs (down from 24)

Germany’s new government said Wednesday it will start increasing border controls to clamp down on migration.
Germany’s new Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt said that more police would be sent to the country’s borders to reduce the number of “illegal migrants." He said #Germany would not close the borders altogether, but that some asylum-seekers may be rejected at the border — something the previous government had refused to do.

There was an idea forwarded during Trump 1.0 that #DACA recipients seek refuge from #deportation on an Indian #reservation and seek their sovereign protection. While I don't blame any sovereign tribe for not wanting war with The Orange One, its' a good fight to have all the way up to the Supreme Court, methinks--especially CITIZENS who have been notified to leave the country might be wise to apply for #asylum on a reservation.
