What I love about #Linux – especially #ArchLinux – is the full control it gives you. It's lightweight, highly customizable, and you only install what you really need. The rolling release model keeps everything up to date, and the #ArchWiki is an amazing resource. It’s not always easy, but you learn a lot and really understand your system.

I've been running linux on my main PC for a few years now, but wanted a bit of a change from the Cinnamon desktop environment. I fancied giving KDE a go, so wiped my boot drive and installed Arch BTW*.

Went pretty well and I've gotten most of my stuff reinstalled and working well. Here's looking forward (/s) to the first update cycle and see how well everything survives.

* I believe I'm legally obligated to make this overworn joke as part of the EULA for Arch, right?

@mhoye Thank you for those blarg-posts,
Well written. I feel strong agreement with the idea that the form must suit the function and the purpose.
I can get a razor thin laptop that I can dumb-terminal into work with, but it doesn't work for me.
I've ditched windows this last year 99.9% thus far for linux ( #archbtw ) and have resumed my dabbles in micro-controllers.
I hate SMD components (bad eyes and low dex score) but love me some hardware with ISP headers and glue-less designs. ::cont::

As a #Debian user:

The #Arch #wiki is too powerful!

(the #Gentoo wiki is also powerful, I like those guys)

I managed to route around a bug in my lappy's audio chipset hardware that prevents eg.: #Flatpak from providing audio on #ALSA properly. Basically I created a fake "audio card" (really an extra dmix entry) , that looks like a different audio card than the one I have, then the apps that use that for audio just get routed back to Pipewire, who connects to the real ALSA.

This kind of "untangling the mysteries of the universe" power is much like what I felt like back in like 2016 when I completely broke Diablos in #MH3U #MonsterHunter by switching to an Exhaust switchaxe ( I use #Switchaxe btw).

(I don't use Arch btw, but I use their wiki btw. I *do* use an Arch schroot btw, to learn some things about it and get some practice)
