#anora is great.

I have many friends who are SWers, and this is an accurate—albeit intentionally, comedically wild—representation.

Sean Baker has long been my favorite director, tied with Kelly Reichardt. Watch all his films—and Reichardt’s too.

Shoutout to Mikey Madison. She did serious work behind the scenes to make this ring true, and she brought it home.

Cannot comprehend praise for Anora. It feels like the perfect movie for the times, for sure (the times being, the fascist Trump era where Russia takes over the US through a bunch of useful idiots). #Anora depicts an ugly world of selfish, ignorant lowlifes, thugs, and criminals always looking for money and cheap comforts and thrills. It’s one of the ugliest movies I’ve seen in years, and I’ve seen lots.

For all its praise it’s only made $20M US box office. 🤷‍♂️
