Chris Smart<p>Coming up at 1 PM Eastern, it's the Trans-Canada Net, carried on The Canada Hub, and probably a repeater near you. Our question today is: What is your most memorable QSO?</p><p><a href="https://thecanadahub.ca/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">thecanadahub.ca/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a><br><a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/HamRadio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HamRadio</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/AmateurRadio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AmateurRadio</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/ASL" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ASL</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/Allstarlink" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Allstarlink</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/EchoLink" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>EchoLink</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/DMR" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DMR</span></a></p>
Andrew Elwell<p>Does anyone have an *old* phone book with the listing of those BT special services like dial-a-disk etc?</p><p>Now that I have a public play asterisk (AllStarLink) service, it may be fun to recreate some of them. </p><p>I mean, who *doesn't* want the complexity of calling up a node, keying a function code (to choose "bus timetable") say, and then entering a stop ID, all just to have the next departure time spoken to you. Much more fun than merely consulting a timetable right?</p><p><a href="https://mast.hpc.social/tags/HamRadio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HamRadio</span></a> <a href="https://mast.hpc.social/tags/AllStarLink" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AllStarLink</span></a></p>

Onno (VK6FLAB)<p>Random question for the day.</p><p>If you have a radio connected to a computer so you can use it to operate digital modes, and you configure it as an <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/AllStarLink" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AllStarLink</span></a> node, how do you use that same radio to host a net, WITHOUT requiring either an extra radio or antenna AT THE SAME TIME?</p><p>Consider what happens when keying the microphone, the audio is transmitted via RF, but not across the internet.</p>
Dane Henson<p>I watched the waterfall on my SDR when I was testing my AllStarNode, and I realized that both my cheap chinese HT and the crappy chinese HT I used to make the node have spurs all up and down the place. 😬 </p><p>I don't have any real test equipment to quantify it, but it looks kinda nasty from my unscientific tests.</p><p><a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/HamRadio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HamRadio</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/AllStarLink" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AllStarLink</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/AmateurRadio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AmateurRadio</span></a></p>
Dane Henson<p>For the record, I think AllMon3 is great. I’m just an Elixir dev by trade and have a few opinions about how I want the interface to look, so I’m learning by doing just to see what comes out in the wash. <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/AllStarLink" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AllStarLink</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/HamRadio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HamRadio</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/AmateurRadio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AmateurRadio</span></a></p>
Dane Henson<p>I have been working on a side project to write an elixir app for managing my <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/AllStarLink" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AllStarLink</span></a> node, and it has been a pretty fun learning experience. Hopefully, I can help contribute to the docs, since it seems like a few of the AMI (asterisk) commands and events for the rpt_app are undocumented. </p><p><a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/HamRadio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HamRadio</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/AmateurRadio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AmateurRadio</span></a></p>
