Andrew Elwell<p>Does anyone have an *old* phone book with the listing of those BT special services like dial-a-disk etc?</p><p>Now that I have a public play asterisk (AllStarLink) service, it may be fun to recreate some of them. </p><p>I mean, who *doesn't* want the complexity of calling up a node, keying a function code (to choose "bus timetable") say, and then entering a stop ID, all just to have the next departure time spoken to you. Onno (VK6FLAB)<p>Random question for the day.</p><p>If you have a radio connected to a computer so you can use it to operate digital modes, and you configure it as an <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/AllStarLink" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AllStarLink</span></a> node, how do you use that same radio to host a net, WITHOUT requiring either an extra radio or antenna AT THE SAME TIME?</p><p>Consider what happens when keying the microphone, the audio is transmitted via RF, but not across the internet.</p>

Now that I have an #AllStarLink node, I’m excited to try joining some nets I couldn’t be a part of before.
What are some of your favorite things to do with your AllStar node?
Allstar node setup learning curve is STEEP.
I finally have a little node set up in my house, but a lot of the documentation is difficult to read and outdated. As a backend web software dev, I'm super happy to tinker, but I feel for the people coming at it with less experience.
