beforewisdom :vegan:<p>Albert Ellis was one of the co-creators of cognitive therapy. He was a traditional psychotherapist before that. His "Rational Therapy" was born when he ( having read Stoicism in his younger days ) started noticing that his patients who got better more quickly changed the way they thought about things. Though he would eventually condense this list Dr. Ellis noticed that these core beliefs were responsible for much of the unhappiness in his patients.</p><p><a href="https://veganism.social/tags/AlbertEllis" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AlbertEllis</span></a> <a href="https://veganism.social/tags/CBT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CBT</span></a> <a href="https://veganism.social/tags/Cognitive" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Cognitive</span></a> <a href="https://veganism.social/tags/CognitiveTherapy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CognitiveTherapy</span></a> <a href="https://veganism.social/tags/Stoicism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Stoicism</span></a></p>

Are you going to be driving on the “wrong” side of the street? Don’t be nervous about renting. Maybe get the extra insurance to help ease your mind. People from America drive in Europe all the time. You will be fine. Looking at things logically will help with your nerves. <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/cognitivepsychology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cognitivepsychology</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/AlbertEllis" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AlbertEllis</span></a></p>

He helped invent cognitive behavioral therapy. That was one of his tricks for getting people to change their behavior. If they did not they had to make a donation to something they despised.</p>
