WIST Quotations
A quotation from T. H. Huxley

Agnosticism is not properly described as a “negative” creed, nor indeed as a creed of any kind, except in so far as it expresses absolute faith in the validity of a principle which is as much ethical as intellectual. This principle may be stated in various ways, but they all amount to this: that it is wrong for a man to say that he is certain of the objective truth of any proposition unless he can produce evidence which logically justifies that certainty. This is what Agnosticism asserts; and, in my opinion, it is all that is essential to Agnosticism.

T. H. Noah
The next 4 years will be rough for non-believers. In LA County there are a few UU locations, but two other groups I highly recommend is Atheists United and Sunday Assembly LA. They each have a bit of a different vibe which could be good for those who have religious trauma in their personal history. One of these groups may fit your vibe better than the others. Joe B. Wall
Among the great unanswerable questions in a complex universe that exists on a scale beyond understanding, the truth of what a dog is thinking when they're looking at you with their soulful eyes is almost certainly unknowable, but this also means that it's entirely possible that they're hearing Vicki Lawrence singing "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia" in their furry heads in every waking moment. Bubba Harrison
@tomcapuder I'm what you might call a cultural Christian, meaning I grew up celebrating Christmas, Easter, and, of course, Halloween—the most spiritually significant of all holidays, where we honor the ancient ritual of trading fun-sized Snickers for temporary social acceptance. Now, I suppose I could become a true believer, but it would require some specific terms.

First, I’d need Jesus to do something practical, like a mass brain upgrade for humanity—something along the lines of installing Asimov’s Three Laws of Robotics in each nervous system. That way, we could all stop worrying about free will and start focusing on not hurting each other, which I think would be a significant improvement for society.
And, just as a small aside, I’d also need him to multiply my bank account. If he’s already in the miracle business, why stop at loaves and fishes when compound interest is there, waiting to be blessed?
#Agnosticism
