John Arnold<p>_The Evening Post_, 22 August 1924:<br> TWO WIVES<br>A MATRIMONIAL COMPLICATION<br>DIVORCE AND NULLITY GRANTED<br>…<br> AUCKLAND, This Day.<br> A matrimonial complication was dealt with by Mr. Justice <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Reed" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Reed</span></a> in the Supreme Court, when he gave decisions in an undefended <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/divorce" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>divorce</span></a> case which was followed by an application for a decree of nullity of marriage. The same man was respondent in both petitions.<br> Elizabeth <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Webber" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Webber</span></a> sought dissolution of her marriage with Mark Webber, labourer, Auckland, on the ground of <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/adultery" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>adultery</span></a>, the man having gone through the form of marriage with Mary Finlay <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Sharkie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Sharkie</span></a>, widow. The last-mentioned sought annulment of the marriage with Webber.<br>…<br> A private inquiry agent stated when he served the papers he told Webber his wife was instituting divorce proceedings. He asked, “Which one?” Witness replied, “Both of them.” Mrs. Sharkie was present. Turning to her he said: “This is your little game. You have set a trap for me.”<br> His Honour granted a decree nisi to Mis.
