Here's a cable TV 4K question. I have an 8-month-old 4K-ready TCL TV using Comcast/Xfinity. Love it.

Yesterday, watching the 2024 Players (golf) Championship, the Golf Channel GOLFD switched automatically to the GOLF4K UHD channel. (It has a channel number higher than the yardage length of many golf courses.)

My question: Why does the image on GOLF4K UHD appear to have a neutral-density filter applied? It's just not golf-course sunshiney-bright. Weird.

And if you have time for one more: Is there even much 4K programming on the non-UHD channels? Thanks.

If I loan my newly restored 4K Blu-ray disc of The Marx Brothers A Night in Casablanca to friends who do not have 4K equipment, what happens when they put the disc in their Blu-ray player.

I can see three cases: 1) neither Blu-ray player nor TV is 4k. 2) the blue ray player is 4K but the TV isn't. 3) The TV is 4K but the Blu-ray player is not.

So what happens in cases one two and three when they put my 4K Blu-ray disc in?
