Wow FastAPI is just freaking MAGICAL.
A few lines of code, a decorator and a typed function declaration and BOOM you have a nice API. A few more? BOOM. Deep validation of your data types. Database integration? No problem. Auth? Trivial.

How about something along the lines of "blocks that work", or "muting instances that works", or "having the two massive flagship instances moderated properly to set a good example" instead of trying to brush an entire landscape under the rug
If you go to the about page for your Mastodon instance and click the "try a mobile app" it takes you to a page that prominently features the iOS app which lacks support for core features of the platform. Seems like if a big part of what your instance offers is the local TL, your about page shouldn't link to a mobile app that has such an incomplete experience.

Besides debates about what "diverse" means, it's taking away a major incentive for people to start and maintain an instance.
Starting an instance to host a community is appealing to some people.
Starting an instance to do free IT for a distributed server farm of homogeneous instances seems like a hard sell.
I've seen so many close friends succumb to this: they see others in tech do Wrong, see rhetoric that simplifies things to "tech == bad", & decide they're bad for enjoying doing stuff w/ computers.
Put work into being ethical; but don't martyr yourself.
You deserve to be happy.
