A recent article on a big tech news site included this phrase:

"[...] Linux phones like the PinePhone, [...]are full of closed-source firmware from non-open components"

We'd like to clear the record: The has two blobs -- neither runs on the main SoC: One loaded to WiFi/BT module, other enclosed within the cell modem. In the modern world of tech, both blobs are unavoidable.

I am holding a Pinephone! So far it seems really fucking nice

The form factor seems much more modern cell phone esque than the librem 5, and I like the internal switches for various peripherals. Still working on getting pmOS up and running for it.

The Plasma Browser Integration plugin is really great! Not only can I control music playing in the browser from keyboard shortcuts and the menu in the taskbar but even from the buttons of my Bluetooth headphones!

(The only thing missing is Plasma displaying the battery percentage of my headphones, as far as I know it's supported but BlueZ doesn't publish battery infos from my headphones for some reason)

drebrez got a 5.1.0 kernel (with minor patching) running on the Galaxy Nexus - and he started with nothing but forced reboots and kernel panics, then worked his way up to the display and earphone audio!

It's time to grab your favorite drink and celebrate this tale and a lot more with us in the two years of postmarketOS blog post:
