I have released a new project; Stream Sprout 🌱

It can restream a video source to multiple destinations such as Twitch, YouTube, and @owncast 📡 It is a Restream.io-like, but no server is required. You can learn more here 👇

My good friend @popey is going to give it a proper test soon. Such bravery 🧪 Go and follow his Twitch and YouTube channels to see if Stream Sprout works as intended 😅

@wimpy @owncast
It worked better than expected!
Might do triple stream next time, adding OwnCast

@wimpy @owncast @popey

Just remember, some platforms (like Twitch once you're affiliate or partner, I can't remember which) require they have exclusive access to your content for a short term (Twitch I think wants 24 hours).

A neat project, but wouldn't hurt (unless I missed it) to add a caution: make sure that the platforms you're (re)streaming to, permit it and don't want exclusivity first.

@tek_dmn @wimpy @owncast

Twitch changed its terms. It's not exclusive. You can simulcast now.

@tek_dmn @wimpy @owncast Someone mentioned it on the stream, so I looked it up, and checked.

@Blort @wimpy @owncast @popey

Looking at the docs it should easily work with a PeerTube persistent live as one of the destinations.

@errhead @Blort @wimpy @owncast I have never streamed to PeerTube, so this is all new information.

Maybe later if I get time, I'll spin up OwnCast and PeerTube and stream to ALL THE THINGS

@errhead @Blort @owncast @popey Yes, Peertube will work and the docs were update to mention it last night 👍

@wimpy really cool. ffmpeg is such a swiss army knife isn't it.

@wimpy @owncast @popey This kind of thing would be awesome if it were baked into Owncast. I bet more people would be encouraged to set up their own server if it was.

Regardless, I look forward to see how this progresses. It’s a great idea.
