#Tusky 19 beta 1 is out!
Among other features and a lot of fixes, it adds the highly requested support for push notifications via Unified Push.
If you don't know what Unified Push ist, here is a small explanation 👇
If you're new to UnifiedPush, the easiest way to get started is to install the 'ntfy' app (available on #fdroid and #googleplaystore) and open it once.
Then, any apps that support UnifiedPush ( https://unifiedpush.org/users/apps/ ) will be able to use UnifiedPush once the apps are restarted!
For more information regarding other distributor choices and self-hosting options, see https://unifiedpush.org/users/distributors/
F-Droid users can pick between Background polling (like the status quo) and using a UnifiedPush distributor
Play store users can pick between FCM (Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging) and using a UnifiedPush distributor
More info:
- this is only merged into develop now, coming to the stable version for all users might take a few weeks
UnifiedPush support has been merged into Element Android!
Element is the flagship @matrix client and one of the biggest apps that will soon support UnifiedPush!
#Tusky has finally neged #UnifiedPush !

We have just released a fully FOSS library that allows you to receive notifications using FCM !
This library follows @fdroidorg rules. It means you can now easily have notifications and be published on #FDroid !

We are looking for someone to maintain Gotify-UP! [*]
We now recommend ntfy for new users for its simplicity and official support but some of you may want to continue using our fork of Gotify, Gotify-UP.
[*] It entails keeping track of upstream updates, implementing new android specs when they are released and to requesting/implementing some changes on common-proxies

With ntfy you just have to install it and it works. You can also self-host the server if you want, then change the application parameter.
With NextPush (nextcloud distributor), it requires the server to be installed with redis. The application is getting reviewed to go to the nextcloud store. Else you have to clone the repo as mentionned on the readme !
We won't recommend gotify anymore as a first class app. ntfy is easier to use (and self-host) and nextpush too if you already have the server
The last version of #ntfy is a #unifiedpush distributor ! It will soon reach the @fdroidorg store. It is easy to use - just install it - and easy to self-host if you want to.

#AndroidAppRain at @fdroidorg again, with 39 updates and 3 new apps:
* Wire Messenger – guess what 😃
* NextPush: distributor for @unifiedpush via your Nextcloud
* Simpill: medication reminder
I have the honor to announce a little #AndroidAppRain 🌦️ in my repo with two very special arrivals: Distributors for @unifiedpush 🥳 🎉
* NextPush: Use your Nextcloud as provider!
* UP-FCM Distributor: If you insist on Google, but the app author does not 😜
With Gotify-UP you now have 3 distributors to choose from! NextPush will hopefully arrive at @fdroidorg soon (UP-FCM obviously will not).
Enjoy your #free #android #apps with #fdroid – and your freedom & privacy with #UnifiedPush
First version of NextPush has been released [1] !
It is an #unifiedpush Distributor that works with a #nextcloud application [2].
The android application can be found on the repo [1] and hopefully soon on #fdroid !
