Teracube 2E is an affordable, sustainable smartphone with modest specs and a 4 year warranty
@tuxdevices oh, that looks promising.
It's a little to big for my taste, like basically all phones nowadays. Any estimates if porting to Linux would be achievable?
@dwagenk that's... hard due to MTK, but I wanted to ping the team on that matter
@tuxdevices It seems interesting this project! I would like to know if the root is available (on their forum it is but I think it refers to the previous version with Android 9). They don't release code sources, so will it be possible to install another ROM/OS?
@DragoLunare I really hope so, otherwise sustainability wouldn't be as good
@tuxdevices aaaaaahrg Mediatek Helio
@martijnbraam I know, I know :(
@tuxdevices i was excited until I saw "Android 10"
I really hope operating systems such as Manjaro Arm; Ubuntu Touch or Postmarket OS get to supporting it. Android will keep me off it but other than that it looks damn perfect.
@PublicNuisance Linux and Mediatek are usually... not... great together, but there's hope for the future
I ended up backing it earlier tonight. That $99 USD price option was too good to pass up. It meets my desires for removable battery and repairability. 2 of 3 aint bad and I like to have spare devices to toy with.
@PublicNuisance That is great, I was also personally considering getting one as secondary device. Oh, and to try some random Linux porting on it :)
@tuxdevices Unfortunately it runs Android 👎 Not interested anymore.
