My bluetooth bathroom scale app doesn’t work at all unless you tell it your “gender”.
@Unixbigot what company? so I can avoid their products.
@Unixbigot I looked around the internet a bit, there is https://github.com/oliexdev/openScale but it does not have support for your Anko scale yet it seems, at least not listed on https://github.com/oliexdev/openScale/wiki/Supported-scales-in-openScale
@treefit thanks! TIL. I develop and hack bluetooth devices for my day job so if i manage to reverse this scale (have not had time to try yet) i will contribute.
@Unixbigot I would be interested in a scale that works with #HomeAssistant to log weight over time.
@treefit I have all the parts in stock to make one, I went and bought one because “why would i bother, when off the shelf is only $30”, well i know why i would bother now.
@Unixbigot @treefit Anko is Kmart's brand. I have a probably older version of this one, and haven't taken the time to reverse engineer its Bluetooth protocol yet.
@mattcen @Unixbigot @treefit Target is all Anko and generic stuff as well now, there's not much difference between there and Kmart anymore. I suspect one or the other of them is going to vanish soon.
