The alternative android client #deltalab already has markdown support, too. For the other platforms I think it will still take a while as markdown is currently not a focus point for us. (also there are still some open questions like do we want to send markdown out as html emails?)
@treefit @Revertron Great that you mention that. I know #deltalab indeed (by @adbenitez). I can be installed in parallel to #deltachat. For me, it is like the preview/future of deltachat.
I can see why you want to wait for that. Heavily edited #markdown text will look funny on other tools.
BTW, #KMail also has markdown support. Methinks, they convert it somehow before sending.

@treefit @Revertron Just tried that in KMail. Text that is written in markdown gets converted to HTML while sending. They have no preview implemented.
