If you want to help reforestation, it's important to know about a process called ecological succession. This is how nature does it.
The plants most people think of as weeds are very important in this. Botanically, they're known as pioneer species. They're tough, tenacious, and will grow even in unforgiving places.
Pioneers lay the groundwork for larger plants to gradually take over, eventually making a comfortable environment for climax species, like forest trees.

This is my first post on this instance. So I guess its time for #introductions
I first started using Mastodon back in 2017. I tried a few Finnish 🇫🇮 instances but they slowly degraded to unusable status. So here I am at Fosstodon! I've followed a few Fosstodonians proviously and I see this community is active and hospitable. I'm also a FOSS nerd so I think I'll enjoy my stay here.
My interest include:
- FOSS (obviously)
- Gaming
- Degooglifying
- Alternatives to Android (excl. iOS)
