I regret switching to proton mail. The apps are not good at all and the bridge is not reliable. Even if I wanted to just use the webmail,I'd have the same UI issues I have with the electron app. (namely it is impossible to zoom in on an email. Zooming in zooms in on the entire app, which is idiotic)

@thelinuxcast I want to want to use proton but I can’t because of the bridge - it seems like an extra step I don’t want to deal with.

I started using Amazon to host my mail (at my own domain) and then moved it to Zoho, which has done well for me - it’s $4 a month and I know that I can move it to another host later if I need to.

@andrew I just came from zoho. I had some odd forwarding and sending issues.

@thelinuxcast Interesting, I haven’t really had any issues.

That being said, I chose them only knowing I would be able to migrate later if needed - I own the domain so I’ll only choose email hosts where I can transfer messages and folders.

@thelinuxcast with the Proton Mail client -- what about "show me the plaintext version of this email"? Assuming that feature exists, does it help with your issue?

@progo no, still just zooms in the entire ui.
At least in the app

Switching mail provider is a true pain, that said, the best thing I did regarding my email during the past 5 years was to get rid of Tutanota and go with a provider which provides:
1. IMAP & SMTP (I use FairEmail and PGP)
2. Have web UI
3. Support PGP in the web UI (I don't use it, but I'm sure many would, which is one step forward in privacy)
4. Have 2FA (although I've been waiting for Yubikey compatibility for 2 years now)
5. Responsive support
6. Electricity from green sources

@thelinuxcast To be honest, I love tutanota at the moment. It's cheap, easy to srt up and just works. Also just transferred my mail to domain names to not have to change email adresses when I use a different provider

@thelinuxcast
This doesn't sound like a very complicated thing to solve. Maybe @protonprivacy just isn't aware of the issues? Let's see if the pay attention here on masta :)

@thelinuxcast Thanks for doing this so I don't have to.
Almost any email provider other than Gmail is problematic in some way, e.g., emails blocked by various ISP blocklists. I have reluctantly continued to let google spy on me.
