@rudolf @CyborgZeta @joel also, the fact that play store distributes malware doesn't invalidate any of the points made in the article. In fact it's explicitly mentioned.

@rudolf @CyborgZeta @joel I just think that criticizing fdroid is perfectly valid. As a matter of fact almost anything can be criticized with good reason and software choices you don't like are acceptable for someone else. Neither play store nor anything else is an exception to this.

@RL_Dane @joel That's the one I've installed and am trying out right now :)
Looks good so far.

@cyberghost @greypilgrim Maybe the additional packages are dependencies? Not sure if it works like that.

@urusan If I understand correctly, you mean that urea is added. Despite the sound urea and urine are not at all the same thing, urine just happens to contain urea.
It's like equating phosphoric acid with coca cola.

@RL_Dane @joel Hey, droidify seems pretty nifty. I'll try it out. Also, a good YouTube music app is great for me, I was used to just using newpipe.

@rudolf @CyborgZeta @joel I disagree. Also note that I was talking about sandboxes Google Play as provided by GrapheneOS

@joel I read that this helps some but doesn't circumvent all issues

I just read about various security issues with F-Droid and the recommendation to stick with sandboxed Google Play. Now I don't know whether security or privacy should matter more :-/

@RL_Dane Ah. I mostly use it for transferring files so I didn't hit that particular roadblock.

Gotta say, KDEConnect is pretty useful, even though I haven't been on KDE for quite a while.

So about that Twitter thing here: privacy.twitter.com/en/blog/20

- 2022-01: Twitter learns of a vuln allowing anyone to find the account a phone number or e-mail is connected to. They "had no evidence" of it being exploited, so they took their time.

- 2022-07: Fix is deployed. They still didn't tell anyone.

- 2022-08: Twitter learns it _was_ exploited, and a data dump is already on sale.

Sounds like a bog standard #security incident, but here's the kicker:

- 2022-03: #Russia invades #Ukraine.

@iooioio @efoundation @shiftphones @postmarketOS Please post an update about how viable postmarketOS is as a daily driver on the device! I'd be really interested :)

I kept wondering why, after all the drama around it, I kept receiving updates for FairEmail. Turns out the Dev was apparently able to resolve the issue with Google's Play Store and resumed the project after all.
I'm happy now.

@benjaminhollon Because of European GDPR website's cookie banner must have a "Reject all" cookie button that is just as accessible as the "Accept all" button. Most websites don't adhere to this, though, unfortunately.

@bitwarden If you did this either on pixelfed or on mastodon (or maybe somewhere else where I'd notice), I'd definitely watch/read. Nifty tips are always appreciated and I like learning new things.
Also, bitwarden is great :)
