@tails Message: be a leader and drop the twit capitalist corp.

@tails I've noticed the same sort of thing. There's just so much more noise on Twitter.

@tails This sounds suspiciously like "If you're in the right ethnic group, you'll get preference."

@gmcgath
> "If you're in the right ethnic group, you'll get preference."

This is how it is. We acknowledge this and want to change it.

There is a reason why white cis men are dominating in tech.
And it is: "If you're in the right ethnic group, you'll get preference."

This is why we particularly encourage those to apply that are part of a group that is under-represented in Free and Open Source Software communities.

It's to become more inclusive, not less.

@tails By accepting and perpetuating the idea of ethnic preference.

@tails Trying to defeat an opponent by adopting their approach is a widespread fallacy. Whenever you grant an opponent's premises and methods, you grant them the high ground. You're fighting on their terms. You end up being like the thing you're trying to defeat.

@gmcgath @tails
you seem to missunderstand something.
white cis dudes for example resieve often the preference in the tech world.
Undoing this, is not the same as doing it.
It is not adpoting an opressive aproach, it countering it by becoming more inclusive.

If you're willing to learn and reflect your position, I'm happy to continue this dialogue. In any other case, I'm out.

claiming that inviting people part of underrepresented groups is the same as prioritizing white cis dudes...what kind of logic is this?

My guess: from a white cis dude.

Unwillingly to reflect their privileges. Unwillingly to accept that much of what they achieved is because of those privileges, and unlikely because they are specifically talented. But always ready to defend it.

@syster @tails That's a good laugh. If I'm willing to accept your fallacies as teaching, you'll continue.

Replacing an unjustified preference for A with an equally unjustified preference for B does not counter, it imitates.

A proper approach to discriminatory preference is to eliminate it by making sure all criteria bear on qualifications. This includes elimination of hidden factors that may take the form of gut feelings. It requires a focus on which candidate is objectively best.

@gmcgath
You're proofing to not understand the hiddden factors that @Tails tries to eliminate.

You do not understand something, but instead continue to come with explanations I’m fully aware of. If you’re not interested in learning something new, leave this conversation, unreflected white cis dude.

@syster While I'm disappointed that you resorted to attacking my skin color and sexual orientation, I can't say I'm surprised. If you had answers to my arguments, you'd have given them.

You're just one more time-waster, whom I'm muting so you won';t waste any more space in my notifications.

@tails I'm a professional Technical Writer for the US government (contractor), as well as a freelance writer for Future. I'll give this a look over and see if I'd be a good fit.

@tails

I guess you should add GPG public key alongside email there 😉

@tails I write honest didactic anonymity security procedures using TAILS as one of the components used to provide true anonymity , destined to whistleblowers and free press sources, in order to have TAILS really providing true anonymity to a military level allowing evading NSA or similar agencies capabilities and strategies to desanonymize.
