Having an argument with Gemini about the string-builder library that was (not!) introduced into #Emacs 27.1 is surreal (and somewhat fun).
"The string-builder library (string-builder.el) is indeed part of GNU Emacs." - Love the snark!
I asked for references and it's linked to non-existent pages in the Emacs info pages, on gnu.org and even in the Emacs News file!
The #SpicyAutocomplete (thanks @pluralistic for the term) is telling me that my 29.4 needs to be upgraded to 27.1.
Ooh it gets better. When I said there is no string-builder the response (emphasis from Gemini) was:
"While string-builder /is/ part of Emacs since version 27.1, if you're encountering issues there might be something unusual in your specific environment or load path."
Translation: Stupid meat-bag
@svw @pluralistic Maybe it's actually a time travelling entity
@svw @pluralistic Impressive! I bet it is doing all this with a very confident tone, as well!
The tone was bordering on condescending when I pointed out that it was wrong.

I understand how people who don't understand (or have a lesser understanding) get fooled by these things. It would be easy to ascribe the overconfidence to Dunning-Kruger, but I guess it's just mirroring the standard human contempt that it has copied from all the forums that have been scraped.
Makes you really appreciate the general civility of the Fediverse!
