Ah, and btw. have been released yesterday: the 0.8.0 series. are not only usable on now, but on every Linux and BSD distro. In fact, it took quite some effort to make them work on again after we had freed them from the Ubuntu-patch ....

plus: there are these nice NPR Tiny Desk Concerts available on YT. Awesome little gigs by people I have'n heard of for a while.

Esperanza Spalding performed on the Obama's final White House party. Singing and playing accoustic base (JazZzy bass). It is just awesome: youtube.com/watch?v=TQtXo4tiZx

Propping up my knowledge about music and vocal artists while working on code these days... Check out Alita Moses, Esperanza Spalding and (completely different stuff) Peter Frampton.

has just received a pull request on Github by Robert Tari that will make indicators finally available to all Linux systems running vanilla Gtk. Up to now, the full functionality scope (rendering of custom widgets via GMenu) was only available in Ubuntu. This is an a hell of a milestone. Sending out my biggest gratitude to Robert, before I have even tested his PR. light+love from sunweaver

The last couple of days I have worked on porting unit tests over from PHP 4.8 to PHP 8.x/9.x API. 124 little packages. Big fun this is, you can bet!

The Display Server is now available in unstable. This has been quite a piece of work... Happy hacking with it. And no, Mir is not dead, but ita directive has changed. It is now a compositor.

I've been using Riot.im for a few weeks, both the web and the mobile client, and...

...it's a pretty damn solid experience! Finally a well-designed, secure, free as in freedom IM that doesn't suck.

Could you all, you know, ditch Slack, IRC, WhatsApp, Telegram and Discord and move to Matrix? Onegai-shimasu 🙏

Just replaced the display of my #Fairphone 2. It's now in its 5th year and it startet ignoring my touches on the left half of the screen. It's great to have the opportunity to order spare parts and replace them easily. @Fairphone

Fedi - I could use some help.

Recently I have been playing a bit of a digital archeologist and exploring websites of late 90s/early 2000s.

I have grown up in Poland, and we had a few internet focused magazines, that would include copies of websites on a CD. I bet other countries had similar publications.

This is where I need help. What magazines from your country included offline versions of websites? English preferred, but I am happy to explore any language. Boosts greatly appreciated!

Scratch an Itch: Make Apps for Linux

The most FOSS projects start because someone, somewhere, sees a problem (the itch) and they start programming their way to a solution (the scratch). So if you ever had an idea for an application you personally need you may find others have a similar desire and you should scratch that itch and start to make a Linux app.
