Grab a cup of coffee and settle in for 49 minutes of mind-expanding Sunday morning physics:
"The Concept of Mass" by Jim Baggott" youtu.be/HfHjzomqbZc

And, everyone living in the EU: For most countries it is election day on Sunday (others have voted today or yesterday). Please go to the election and vote for sustainability.

Been at my first demo today. It is not only about coal we need to worry about in Germany, it is also about ecological agriculture (climate has been saved, but well, the nitrate levels in the ground water are unfortunately too bad for it to be drunk, if nothing changes here). Very touching event in our little cosy town, may all these young people vote the right parties in 2-3 years from now.

How To Be An Ethical Consumer:

- Don't buy from Amazon
- Spend half an hour researching where else you can buy the thing you want
- Order it from a small business
- The small business orders it from Amazon and just has it shipped to you
- Oh no
- There's no ethical consumption in a system with these fucked up power dynamics

@sunweaver ack, did not consider that. Will provide English translations in the future.

A coder is someone who turns coffee into code right =) Made some calculations about caffeine body levels during and after a day of work with four cups ☕ ☕ ☕ ☕ of coffee. The result made me think twice of drinking coffee after lunch.

Even a single cup ☕ at 9 am results in 20% left at bed time.

Just joined! Glad to be part of this!

I discovered Mastodon after reading about the "Re-decentralizing the Internet" movement. It hit me right on the nose. Being a developer who's worked in media and ad tech, and someone with kids, I'm concerned about the direction we seem to be moving in. Joining this community is my first small step towards decentralization of my "personal infrastructure" and taking back ownership of our data and privacy.

Let's make Linux work on an Android device
Let's test UserLAnd, the new free application that we find in the store of ours smartphone and that allows us to have some Linux programs always with us.
One time installed, we will find a list of operating systems and Linux applications that we will be able to easily install and use even with the smartphone.

This Apple event, where they're announcing a credit card, an "arcade" for games, and an expanded TV app that's basically a streaming service, has me wanting to scream: Use Linux! Use FOSS! Avoid large walled gardens!

@sunweaver I'm roughly following humus101.com/EN/2015/09/15/hum - this is an Israeli recipe.

A Lebanese hummus is fairly similar, but my understanding is it has less tahini and no garlic.

I find it absurd when people accuse #SciHub of "stealing" from journal publishers. It is the publishers who are stealing, from the scholars who write, peer review and edit the journals without pay, from universities and their libraries who have to pay to so their researchers can publish papers *and* to get access to them, and from the public who fund all this, through public funding, tuition fees and so on.
