I haven't figured out a way to run .appimage apps yet, which means I can't get Grayjay or Filen (cloud storage sync) to work. Any tips would be much appreciated!
@stovis This is DAMNED exciting!
@TheLastOfHisName At first I tried to run the v24.12 phosh image, and was a bit underwhelmed to be honest - but this (the edge gnome-mobile image) was a LOT better and smoother!
@stovis waw that seemed like a pretty whole experience. I was on the edge of my seat seeing 0ad on the home menu
@onelikeandidie check out my other comment. the UI elements are too big and wonky on mobile, but you can open it and the sound works, etc!
@stovis how did you record the screen?
@Lioh With the built in gnome-screen recording tool from the top menu, works the same way as it does on desktop!
@stovis ah, great, thanks. I am still looking for a way to cast the entire screen to the computer like scrcpy on Android.
@stovis Is this mainline GNOME or the "mobile" fork?
@cidra this is the gnome-mobile edge image from pmos
@stovis does 0ad actually run on that?
@jeffmcneill Hard to play atm because the UI elements are too big, but you can open it, yeah
@stovis I saw that video you put up of Oad play. Looks great!
@stovis Is there a problem with calls? Do both SIM cards work?
@ganch Haven't tried it yet, I'll write here when I give it a go
@stovis I wrote this little script to assist with appimage installation awhile ago. I don’t use the app I needed it for anymore so no promises that it still works.
@sudoedit The script says the installation was successful, but the app doesn't show up in the gnome-app-menu. Thanks anyways, was worth a try!
@stovis Can I ask what distro you’re using? If I get a minute I’ll see if I can get a vm running update the script.
Also I *think* you could double click the appimage in ~/Applications at this point and it would work… but yeah not showing up in the menu is a pain in the butt…
@sudoedit It's PostmarketOS, which is based on Alpine Linux. I don't consider myself a power user, but I have tried making it an executable and running it, with no luck
@stovis I will give it a shot, only because I’ve never used an Alpine based distro.. but I highly suspect that the glibc vs musl thing with Alpine is the main culprit. Could be a day or two but I’ll reach out if I have any luck.
@sudoedit Best of luck, really appreciate the effort!
@stovis this is shaping up really nicely! Really impressive!
@chriswood It really is! Kudos to all the contributors to the project
@stovis i really dislike how open apps are managed. i wish it was ios-like
@pedka It doesn't bother me much, but I agree it's not optimal. Will be interesting to try the different interfaces going forward - plasma, phosh, gnome, sxmo, etc. I even read somewhere that someone had experimented with cosmic!
@stovis even cosmic? that's interesting
@pedka Looks like it's possible in theory https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/COSMIC And there's at least some interest in making it mobile friendly https://github.com/pop-os/cosmic-epoch/issues/632
@stovis 0 A.D. on mobile? Is it working with landscape?
Means there is a chance that later all #Linux games can be played on Android devices
@williamconna This is postmarketos, not android. Check out their webpage https://postmarketos.org/
@stovis Hei, wow, så kult å finne en til norsk Gnome-er! :D @bragefuglseth
Hurra for Postmarket! Når jeg bare klarer å finne en fornuftig måte å gå installert en av-Googlifisert Android på min FP5 så skal jeg prøve å teste Postmarket på min FP4!
@forteller @bragefuglseth Hehe, likewise! Aner jo ikke hvor mange av oss som finnes, det kunne ha vært artig å finne ut.
Og ja, skål for postmarketos, er imponert over jobben som gjøres der!
