Cursed or blursed connector? It's a USB-C PD to old Lenovo square connector adapter, and I can confirm it's working

@stfn not surprised. Would not be even surprised if it’s legitimate Lenovo piece - they had a weird period where same model hd a variation between square and usb-c power supply connections

@artwaw this one is not, it's made by BLOW, the maker of all things that are cheap and weird :)

@artwaw @stfn Nope lenovo doesn't produce such adapters in that particular form. I only one time saw their own one, but it was "on the cable" made. A small plastic box with logic inside, with some cables on the both sides. Similar design was to the normal charger. I think it was for one of the early Legion/IdeaPad series. And it was called converter, not adapter. In addition to charging, it enables full communication between different types of chargers and those laptops. It wasn't cheap as well.

@stfn I was using a very similar one with my T540p - there isn't a reason it shoudn't work so... it just works :)

Someone could improve it so that the resistance between the middle pin of the Lenovo plug and ground is actually in accordance with the currently plugged in USB-PD power supply. But that would require modifications to the PD trigger inside so... mine was just wired as a 90W charger and I assume every single one of them is

@maciej73 @stfn There's are even few reasons for that. Lots of them are only cheap made adapters that allows only basic level, low power charging. They doesn't allow any type of communication between the device and the charger. Plenty of them are also so poorly done that using them with some higher level voltages or wattages can be very dangerous. They can literally melt down within a few minutes of charging. I've tested lots of these things and only few ones have been worth something.
