I want to learn a new keyboard layout for the 40% Planck keyboard and a full keyboard at work.

Which one would you recommend, since
- I mostly write in English but need easy access to accents for French words (dead keys are fine).
- well adapted to ortholinear layout.
- Numbers must be in direct access. No capitalisation.
- nice to have easily access to ()/*'#@_&=<> for casual coding.

Of course I will remap some keys, but I prefer to start from a layout with the right philosophy.

@steppenwolf Personally I use Colemak, but any layout should work fine on a Planck.

You don't need to follow conventions when it comes to symbols.Try using the default Planck's Lower/Raise system and see how it manages numbers and symbols, and make changes from there as you need to.
