In these times where some look at Windows as the necessary OS that "just work", I feel obliged to notice that my hp p1102 usb printer is not recognised by Win10. I lost half an hour trying to make it print a test page while I "plug and played" it on pop OS...

Please, if you have a bot, make it post in unlisted rather than in public. There is so many bots posting in public now that the federated timeline is becoming unusable.
I don’t usually ask that, but can you boost this to spread awareness?

I see a lot of fans around here. Why is it so appealing? Why did you choose it over another curated rolling release like Manjaro for example

We received new laptops at work but discovered they are setup with Windows Family. I'm up to install the professional version from usb stick... But usb doesn't show up in the boot menu. :blobcatfacepalm:
It seems the manufacturer really want us to stick with his s**t. More and more I feel handcuffed when dealing with Windows

:boost_ok: :ablobcatwave: Please boost this post if you would like the EFF to join the fediverse. :ablobcatbongo:

In a survey the EFF sent me, I suggested they create an account on the fediverse, so they can reach more supporters and support innovative free software that promotes interoperability among platforms, something they've advocated for in the past, too.

If you can boost this post, maybe I'll be able to show them that there are quite a few users who would like them here!

The EFF is the infamous nonprofit organisation that fights for privacy, government transparency, and digital freedom. Their fight is very important, and the EFF is very special to me. https://www.eff.org/about https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_Frontier_Foundation

You can see some of their work here https://www.eff.org/work

In the meantime, you can follow @eff, which is an unofficial mirror of their Twitter.

Are there any french/english typists here? What keyboard layout do you use? For me (and after lots of testing) a bépo variation did the trick. Colemak is really neat for English, but alternating hands works better for multilingual.

I went through the rabbit hole with my new Planck ez keyboard. 2 months spent testing various layouts, fiddling with key positions, training... But it's so good to feel the keyboard as a natural continuity of my fingers.🤩

Has anyone tried Kakoune? Do you think it's worth the move from vim ?

I want to learn a new keyboard layout for the 40% Planck keyboard and a full keyboard at work.

Which one would you recommend, since
- I mostly write in English but need easy access to accents for French words (dead keys are fine).
- well adapted to ortholinear layout.
- Numbers must be in direct access. No capitalisation.
- nice to have easily access to ()/*'#@_&=<> for casual coding.

Of course I will remap some keys, but I prefer to start from a layout with the right philosophy.

Don't know if it's worth the price, bit I'm delighted by the novelty

I want to offer myself a planckEZ keyboard for Christmas. Would be my first programmable mechanical keyboard.

Data cruncher and recovering runner's nightmare: I was having my best running session for ages. In the heat, I accidentally shut down my monitoring watch while fumbling with it. All tracking lost. : :ac_resignation:

Lockdown is coming again for me. I hope the whole family will manage to enjoy it someway this time. Not being sick like last time

Does anybody have experience with mindforger? It seems nice to keep track of my thoughts and being able to link pieces of knowledge.

In these troubled times, would it be a good idea to donate to Mozilla Foundation ?

With all of the trouble is facing, it's important for everyone interested in an open web to understand their significance. See medium.com/young-coder/mozilla for a highlight.

I've started to use Taskjuggler in order to plan all our activities at work (mainly trainings we organize all year round)... And I am very pleased with its advertised power and flexibility.

It seems that last update for gnome shell in has a bug. I spent the last evening trying (in vain) to make it work after having updated and being stuck with "oh no. Something have gone wrong" error. Finally I wake up after a short sleep this morning and fix it by updating from the unstable repository. Can I go back to bed, now? Please !

We have SMB shared folders on a Debian server that we used to access on workplace lan. I need to sync it with onedrive for teleworkers but no official client available for Linux. Will the OneDrive package on Debian repository do the trick?
