One thing that I have really tended towards after having gotten experienced with linux is that starting from a minimal system and building it up has been far more fruitful to me than starting with somthing full featured and then trying to remove cruft :)

@sotolf Very true. However, IMHO there's something to be said for distros that bring everything out of the box for people who don't want or can't set up everything from the ground up in KISS style.


@theDoctor Yeah, clearly it is, if someone uses most of the things that is provided by those systems anyway there is no problem with that :) This is just for me personally, and it's the reason why I added the caveat "as I grow more experienced with linux" :)

I'm not in the normal thing I think, as I have already used arch for about 13 years or so by now ;)
