So one SSD I use for backups died, I didn't have time to investigate but saved an almost full backup to another disk. Good thing because the next day my primary SSD died. Phew. Just few bad blocks I think but enough that btrfs could not be saved by my skills. Forced to reinstall I then decided to try switching from Arch to NixOS. Very mixed feelings about Nix so far.

Is there any way to search for posts by other people on mastodon? Some third party or something? The built in search function that I found only returns posts I've interacted with, 99% useless. At least search among posts by those that I follow would have been much better, so that I can find content that I know exists.
Hey, Inkscape community! Here's an interesting update from #GSOC contributor Link Mauve about adding GPU acceleration to Inkscape: https://linkmauve.fr/blog/2020/06/12/bringing-gpu-acceleration-to-inkscape-week-2/

Koko is a great image viewer designed for #PlasmaMobile. Unfortunately, up until recently it did not work great on desktop computers. This changed last week with various small patches to Koko’s code and Kirigami.
Packagers are some very dedicated people! I uploaded a new version of my backup scheduler Kup to KDE's publishing server, filed a sysadmin ticket and went for a nap. When waking up I wanted to notify arch Linux packager but found that the new version was already published there! Really? That fast? And this included changing the build script quite a lot..
@ubuntustudio, the Linux distribution "for creative humans", will move to KDE's Plasma desktop by default for future releases. Plasma's "better tools for graphics artists and photographers" and lightness make it the ideal desktop for Ubuntu Studio's users.
The KDE community looks forward to working closely with Ubuntu Studio in delivering the best desktop experience to their users.
Anybody wanting to help out with figuring out how to make an android package for #fdroid ? My game was well liked on the Nokia N9 back in the day. It's in the play store also but of course it's impossible to find it there. https://github.com/spersson/Chimpopzee I've been trying to package it for a week now, giving up. Packaging is awful, people doing it are real heroes! Writing software is so much easier than compiling it!

EU spending tens of millions of euros a year to promote meat eating - https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/feb/14/eu-spending-tens-of-millions-of-euros-a-year-to-promote-meat-eating morally and environmentally indefensible, and a total waste of money: shame on @EU_Commission
The recording of my talk is already live:
Does anybody have thoughts on or experience with medium.com? I like the idea of paying for good articles. And perhaps it's possible to get much more specialized content than any regular news paper? Do I need the app or is website good enough? Does it give good recommendations based on what you have read? I'm already paying for the Guardian which is very good but it is lacking both depth and volume on science and tech.
