Okay, screw this: if BB-GATEWAY is going to act like this---and what the everlovinghell is wrong with people not documenting literally anything? A DRAWING IS NOT DOCUMENTATION--I'm scrubbing to load the latest testing build of the OS.

I see why boards are so easy to get and still pretty cheap. There's more documentation right this second on a single wifi package being added to the kernel than everything in the entire Beagle cottage industry.

And this is sad, because BeagleBone Black, at least, is a genuinely good computer. The SD is genuinely fast; I run three Pi 4Bs, a Zero W and a Zero 2 W, and unless I"m running a super heavy load on Beagle, I forget it's running on SD. It only really struggles with high loads over long periods.

The eMMC is amazing, but still can't use it full time until I work out what's safe to purge.

Okay, time to flash bone-debian-10.13-iot. Is this a good idea? Nope. This will end badly. Whatever

BELAY THAT:

That looks dangerous and looks like it's compatible. Updated on 4/6/2023.

Game on.

(Note: If I somehow stupidly kill myself doing stupid things with SBC, please don't tell my mom. She will reverse haunt me while alive after my death with encouragement to get back out there and try again and that will be hard from the afterlife. I do not think I will be less clumsy as a ghost.)

@seperis wow... no wonder my BeagleBone Black is gathering dust while literally anything else gets used. Most of it was a mystery to me even years ago when I got it.

@yakkoj I know, God. And it's SUCH a good SBC. It ran my OTBR better than my Pi 4 did. For something this small, it's crazy good at its job. The hardware itself is solid.

But holy God this wifi cape is insane. If I hadn't paid so much for it, I'd just download the wifi drives and put it back on a usb wifi dongle.

They are taking steps to update the OS at least; I just skipped to ssh to configure Debian 11.6 IOT and so far it's doing great.
