Simon John<p>Libvirt 10.10 seems to be completely broken on <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/debian" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>debian</span></a> Sid (virt-install crashes almost immediately and virt-manager can&#39;t keep connected to a user session).</p><p>Thank $deity for snapshot.debian.org as 10.9 works fine. I still think we need a &quot;dnf downgrade&quot; equivalent for apt</p>
Simon John<p>I just compiled some <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/AlmaLinux" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>AlmaLinux</span></a> packages on my <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/macminim4" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>macminim4</span></a> in 20% of the time it took on my dual Xeon. WTF are we still using Intel?!</p>

Simon John<p>Gotta say it&#39;s nice to be able to fire up an AlmaLinux VM on <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/macOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>macOS</span></a> to build aarch64 packages. The M4 Pro &quot;feels&quot; as fast as my Xeon.</p>
Simon John<p>Trying to figure out whether to use <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/mac" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mac</span></a> app store or homebrew to install everything on <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/macos" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>macos</span></a> when my Mini arrives.</p><p>As a <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Linux</span></a> user package management via the CLI appeals, but brew isn&#39;t official so I have security concerns and am also a bit confused about $PATH issues.</p><p>Apart from xcode for git etc; I mainly need zoom, slack, go, fusion360, yubikey, UTM, iterm2, chrome, maybe vscode.</p><p>App store seems too pointy-clicky but at least has less supply chain risk, but how [well] do updates work?</p>

Simon John<p>Wow the <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/gnome47" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>gnome47</span></a> save dialogs are enormous, also don&#39;t seem to allow you to drag a file/dir from Nautilus to it to use that path</p>
Simon John<p>Going to buy a <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/mac" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mac</span></a> mini m4 pro when they&#39;re released - mainly as Zoom for <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>linux</span></a> screensharing is a crashing turd, but also as an aarch64 build box &amp; I can use Fusion360.</p><p>UTM app for running VM&#39;s looks great, but I&#39;m a virt-install fan and the UTM scripting looks worse than qemu CLI, is <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/qemu" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>qemu</span></a> + libvirt from <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/homebrew" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>homebrew</span></a> useful now? Does it do bridged networking? I saw it can handle HVF now. Is virt-manager still buggy on <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/macOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>macOS</span></a> ? Is virt-viewer available or is it easier to use VNC/virsh console?</p>
Simon John<p>$ virsh list --all | wc -l<br />46</p><p>I think I have a problem 😆 <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>linux</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/qemu" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>qemu</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/kvm" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>kvm</span></a></p>
Simon John<p>Does Zoom work any better under xorg, as I&#39;ve never made it through a single call without it crashing if I screenshare under Wayland even using pipewire</p>
