Even if not Crome-based, firefox is Google-based with how much they depend on their funding
There is also an option to use an engines that are libre forks of blink,
for example qutebrowser

Sadly, since Mozilla has abandoned the Servo project, I don't see a path forward where they become performance-competitive again.
