Tom :emacs: :guix:

I never actually wrote an on here. Mostly because I hate writing about myself like this. But here goes.

I'm a programmer and enthusiast. I've been using as my main desktop and as my... everything... since 2008. I started off with a lot of distro hopping, my journey took me through , , , , and before settling on , now with on top.

I also like reading and commenting on books on occasion. I try to do that on @ryuslash@bookwyrm.social

Who knows, maybe one day I'll even start writing bad reviews!

And I just started a new profile @ryuslash@metalhead.club to say silly things about bad music (some call it noise) that I like. Thought that might be fun to do.

@ryuslash Hi Tom!

I'm also big on #linux (since 2000, feeling old!) and #emacs (2009), and I'm looking forward to getting started with #guix.

You can also count me down as a #metal fan, but more on the power/symphonic side, not really into death/black metal.

While I wouldn't call me a keyboard fan, I definitely need a good mechanical keyboard in my desktop. Rocked an IBM Model M for many years, now using a Varmilo with MX Cherry Browns.

What do you like to read?

@fidel excellent! I'm not really into black and death either, although there are a couple of bands I like.

I use an Ergodox EZ myself at the moment, but have already set my sights on another keyboard I want (a dactyl manuform)

I mostly like reading sci-fi and books about programming

@ryuslash Sci-fi is also my main non-fiction, and fantasy. Which are some of your favorite ones?

An incomplete list from me:

- Ted Chiang short stories. My favorite is Understanding.
- Gateway series by Frederik Pohl.
- Foundation series by Isaac Asimov.
- Dune by Frank Herbert.
- Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card.
- The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.
