Truthfully, I'd like to sit down and have @pla explain to me (a dummy) what he's actually doing. I can't figure out if it's clever or a helluva lotta work. :-)
I like the idea of #pixelfed but I'm not sure it provides what I want. Newbie questions:
1. Does the instance I pick determine the quality of experience I get? (ie. uptime, glitches etc.)
2. If I choose to switch instances do I lose what I've done and have to start all over?
I realize it works similarly to mastadon instances but isn't quite the same. Maybe I should stick to hosting my photos somewhere else for now.
After 13 years I finally dropped my webhost (unsurprisingly, cancelling was way more complicated that it needed to be). So I switched to someone else. Not sure what I'm going to do with it, but here's to new beginnings. 😃 https://rfquerin.org/
