Say what you want about Microsoft, but vscode is a darn nice editor. I've got it running on Windows at work, on Mint on my home laptop and on my Chromebook (in XFCE under Crouton). It's sort of what I wanted Atom to be, but it seems so much faster (especially starting up). Kudos to them.

@rfquerin If you like vscode, maybe try vscodium: . Its basically vscode without the microsoft telemetry crap and completely foss.
