Pinned toot

Hi mastodonians(?) I'm Renato, I'm an Italian living and working in Switzerland, I'm a sysadmin/devop by trade, I dabble in game design and like to think and talk about games. And hobby models. And food. And language and languages. And tech.

And a boatload of other stuff.

Check out my game A Scoundrel in the Deep that I wrote with my friend Flavio where you tell stories and play with (literal) fire:

Karin Keller-Sutter: la loi contre le terrorisme contient "des garde-fous considérables". Je voterai NON à cette loi qui est excessive, porte atteinte aux droits fondamentaux & surtout n’est pas nécessaire. La Suisse est gagnée par une fièvre liberticide. t.co/647EOEolwe?amp=1

I am, as of now, a Panther ModeRNA.

Or half, I guess, until the second shot.

Updated my masto profile link with the new 3.0 @keyoxide release link so now I have a spiffy proper green tick on the OpenPGP line.

Thanks @yarmo !

So fast!

So excited to announce Keyoxide version 3.0.0 🎉

This update was worth the wait, with a (much needed 😎) redesign that is cleaner and more consistent that before.

Now also featuring server-side rendering! So not only pretty darn fast, but also parseable by Mastodon! Keyoxide links in Mastodon bio with a ✅ for everyone 🤩

Thank all for your support. Here's to taking our online identity back from Big Tech!

job search for Linux sysadmin, boost+ :boost_ok:

Dear friends,

I’m a Brazilian immigrant and trans woman, looking for a new job in Germany. Been doing Linux sysadmin’ing since 2001. I have experience also with programming, tech writing and translation.

The job needs to be registered locally in Germany. I’m living in the country since 2017, and I can commute in the NRW area or work remotely.

I’m fluent in English, know Japanese, and my German is currently at B2.

For CV and personal info DM me.

Thanks everybody for boosts and references!

Nice explainer on the recent "probable discovery"! Also, very fun to see a physicist nerd out, so happy about "hooray, there's more we don't know, this is AWESOME!" :-D

Return of the cheeky smoothie bottle (last time the message was "stop looking at my bottom!")

I have seen in the past examples of how damn difficult it is to really control and play a Theremin.

This is... supernatural levels of "one-ness" with the instrument!

So strange to hear it without the crowd chanting in the background :)

"Police are warning students and universities not to access Sci-Hub, an "illegal website" that allows users to download scientific research papers normally locked behind expensive subscriptions."

Very bad indeed. That name again: Sci-Hub. Remember it so you can avoid it. Ahem.

This is our regular reminder to use an encrypted password manager...

Keep your personal, school and work accounts safer by using an encrypted password manager. Never store your passwords in the browser.

We recommend keepassxc.org but any encrypted manager is better than none!

#KeepassXC is an amazing #opensource project with a lot of polish. Keep projects like this alive by donating to their #developers.

Do not change your password today. Instead, get yourself a password manager. Can be free, can be paid. Generate different random passwords for each of your accounts.

Do yourself a favor and make this one of your New Year's resolution.

The inconvenient truth is that there is no such thing as a backdoor that only lets the good guys in. The EU's resolution on encryption, released yesterday, could result in a net decrease of everyone's privacy and security: protonmail.com/blog/eu-attack-
