phosh 0.44.0 is out
to everyone who contributed to this release.
There's fixes and improvements, check out the full release notes at https://phosh.mobi/releases/rel-0.44.0/ for details or see
for a short
#phosh now shows the configured desktop background in the overview:
Note that some of the background files shipped for desktops as jxl can be slow to resize on slower hardware as they are meant for desktop screen size.
It is recommended to use a proper size on e.g. the PinePhone as it can otherwise consume significant CPU resources after login.

@phosh wow very nice the two empty buttons could be used for left right cursor buttons
@phosh Why does it use CPU resources? The GPU can scale and render it without breaking a sweat.
@k0bin @phosh The bulk of time is spent loading the jxl into a buffer so libjxl-gdk-pixbuf would be the place to look at if you want to optimize things.
EDIT: See https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/merge_requests/2850 and/or https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/6886 for related discussions with some details and numbers.
@phosh I really like the icons used in all Linux based systems for mobile devices, the main difference being is that they are not symmetrical icons like: all squares or all circles.
