Hi everyone!
Just joined Fosstodon and I hope to meet all kinds of people. 👋
I'm mainly interested in web dev and web design, but I like to tinker with nearly everything.
This time on the podcast, @dos from @purism talks about his Die Hard GNU/Linux User On Phones life. How he's developing lots of great things for Phoc/Phosh, the Librem 5 and how he implemented his personal dream of shrinking windows that he had since the Openmoko days.

The campaign is currently at 44% funded with 5 days left. Please help me bring RPG in a Box to all the people out there waiting to discover it and be empowered to express themselves through making games! ❤️🙏

@sudoedit managed hosting is just so cheap that it doesn't make sense for me to run it on my servers IMO. Makes it easier to nuke an install if it doesn't contain my important emails.
Thank you to the people who still watch my Minetest Mineclone videos. Here is another episode.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!
Five years of #Fosstodon seems to have gone by so quickly, and in the time it's been here it's done so much more than @kev and I anticipated. Thank you everybody in the Fosstodon community who have helped make it more than we ever expected it could be!
@RL_Dane There are some VERY light (terminal) clients out there for Matrix, but that protocol is always going to be slow imo.
Gajim has been looking very good since 1.4
@ru what are your biggest issues with it?
@ru from a user perspective it definitely comes short, but I like it a heck of a lot more than Matrix. \o/ all it really needs is a snazzy client for every device.
@jason123santa I'm very much a happy XMPP user. :)
@ru the server plays in to the clients sluggishness, so it's all a factor.
@ru I've been trying for a long time, assuming it'll get better eventually. At this point I think I've run out of personal patience. I'm sticking to XMPP where everything seems to work for me.
Its just too slow, and the only way to make it run efficiently is by throwing so much hardware at it that it becomes unrealistic as a truly decentralized SELF-HOSTABLE protocol.
Canchat is now running a Mumble server! Check it out at https://canchat.org/mumble/
General account with no theme, although most of my posts will be about #linux, #decentralization, or something I find funny.
