I must say that I really enjoy the new wellbeing settings in Tusky. Not being able to see the amount of stars, boost a post have and not being able to see how many followers someone have or how many someone follows is rather refreshing.

It let's you focus on the content rather than the values in how popular some post or user is.

@pacman I guess everything is gonna have a FOSS. I mean First I have heard of a tip app

Version 1.12.0.0 is now available for manual install from our repo. If no one finds any problems it will be enabled for automatic updates tomorrow.

If there is one mistake I've made on my tech journey these past few years, particularly after a career in WordPress, it is to assume that free software communities are "better" than other software. The amount of toxicity and exclusion I've seen in FOSS often far surpasses even the worst corporate players.

@hund I'm a little disappointed that you consider this "not a bright view".

The stock market is a horrible mass of perverse incentives that parasitises on our economic system. (Hyperbole.) Some problems include:

• Betting on bets, which apparently American people's retirement money's now in(‽);
• Trading votes in a company: stock traders want money, so publicly-traded companies have yet another incentive to turn evil;
• Algorithmic trading siphons money from the poor to the rich, on average.

@hund So Linus is right: you are getting payed for doing absolutely nothing. If you would rather exchange shares'n stuff to bring in tons of profit without providing anyone any valuable product or service than fine, don't expect me to have respect for your """""work""""" however.

pacman :vim: :archlinux: boosted

I listened to the latest WAN Show from Linus Tech Tips today, and Linus mentioned the fact that he doesn't invest his money into the stock market, because he consider that to be an unethical thing to do as an "influencer".

He also doesn't like people who Invest their money and let the money work for them. He values "hard work" and consider that to be adding true value to the world.

I generally consider Linus to be a bright person, so this surprised me a bit.

I got two of these aluminium keychains with the logo of my company @iokeyboards. It was a gift from Laserboost due to my order was a bit delayed because of some hiccup on the Internet the day of me placing the order. :)

@pleiades XMPP is a lot more lightweight than Matrix. My Prosody-server with about 17-20 users uses less than 50 MB on disk and currently about 35 MB of RAM.

We have a public chat that's bridged to both an IRC- and a Matrix-channel, so there's a lot of activity there as well.

It's also dead simple to setup. It's basically installing Prosody via the repos, importing the cert(s) using a command and then starting the server. :)

Another thing about the new captured ID's screen in @CCTG is that you can get a pretty good overview if your corona app is working correctly.

For example one thing that makes it reliably stop capturing IDs on my device is allowing my phone to enable the battery saving feature.

So you might want to keep an eye on this.

pacman :vim: :archlinux: boosted

If you are using a microG system installation and haven't done so yet, it's recommended to upgrade this to version v0.2.17. You'll get the new ID reporting screen as well as a few stability fixes.

You'll probably have to do that manually by opening f-droid.org/app/com.google.and in F-Droid, expanding the version section and selecting 0.2.17.

I'm considering muting the words Signal and Telegram. It just makes me sad to see all the people go from one centralized non-free place to another centralized non-free place, while they're thinking it's a good thing.

Trying to explain and educate them about ethical options, feels as fruitless as emptying the ocean with a spoon.
