phosh 0.20.0 is out 🚀📱 :
After three beta releases we've finally tagged phosh 0.20.0.
Check out the full release notes at https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/Phosh/phosh/-/tags/v0.20.0 . This also links to the release notes of the beta releases which have more details.
And the good news is we already have new merge requests pending for phosh 0.20.1 and 0.30.0.
On the "blockchain isn't decentralized" thing, technically a #blockchain system is distributed redundant storage of a single database. It's not a decentralized database system. But this kind of subtlety in distinction gets lost easily within hype-laden tech journalism.
By sheer volume of hype, blockchain systems were able to appropriate the word "decentralized".

A short summary of #PureOS changes for June: https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/librem5-base/-/wikis/PureOS-June-2022 :
With the current @ManjaroLinuxARM #Phosh images for #Pinephone and #PinephonePro we added initial #gesture support to the UI. We also switched most components to #Gnome 42 stack. Give it a try: https://github.com/manjaro-pinephone/phosh/releases/tag/beta24

phosh 0.20.0~beta1 is out 🚀📱 :
Couple of days late due to #Debian Reunion in HH but here we go:
* swipe gestures on top and bottom bar
* quick settings and top bar on lock screen
* Revamp settings menu
* Lots of detail fixes
It's a beta since we want to put some final touches on gestures and top-bar to not regress (see https://gitlab.gnome.org/groups/World/Phosh/-/milestones/2#tab-issues).
Check out the full release notes https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/Phosh/phosh/-/tags/v0.20.0_beta1 for details.
A reminder that Mastodon and the Fediverse do NOT use cryptocurrency, blockchains, NFTs, tokens, coins, mining, web3 or anything like that.
Masto and the Fedi run on traditional servers and use a sustainable network federation model somewhat similar to e-mail (that's why Fediverse addresses look similar to e-mail addresses).
Also a reminder there are no venture capital firms or other investors either. No one owns the network, each server is independent. Masto and Fedi server running costs are paid by their owners, sometimes with donations from users.
No one is getting rich from the Fediverse, it is all volunteers with some getting donations and a few getting modest grants from foundations. Please remember this when you interact with admins or developers.
(There might be some individual users who post about cryptocurrency/blockchain, but the infrastructure this place runs on doesn't use it at all.)
Tl:dr - Decentralisation does NOT mean cryptocurrency/blockchain
Fosstodon is an English speaking Mastodon instance that is open to anyone who is interested in technology; particularly free & open source software.
