Are there any co-op decentralized server hosting groups?

Like Disroot, where they host a bunch of neat software (Nextcloud, encrypted notes, storage maybe), but in a cooperative environment with a limited number of people?

I'm kind of imagining each member paying certain monthly dues, and having voting/etc to determine who is actually running the server (and where).

This is an idea that I'm working on with a few friends but our total budget is like $10/month or $300 upfront, so the best ""server"" we can get is an ODroid and a 10TB hard drive.

I think this is a super neat way to decentralize the internet, because while not everyone is technical and wants to sysadmin a server, almost everyone knows someone who would (and may be willing to pay for it).

@njha Check out social.coop, they are a cooperative running a Mastodon server the way you're describing.

@njha there's the solarpunk coop. Maybe that's what you want?
