Couple of thoughts:
1. In order to avoid rushing strangers into our conversations with friends we should be kept them "private" and not "public" (even "evil" social media like for example Facebook has the option to post publicly or for friends only, or we can restrict the visibility even further excluding specific groups or individuals).
2. Youtube's subscriptions feed is the only right way to consume it imo, even when I was using yt's default front-end that was my go-to option (had bookmarked that way - as you also mentioned)
3. We should not reply on Google search solely, there are couple of other search engines too and is lot of cases they can produce more competent results.
