Kira: Did you know pessimists outlive optimists?
Miles: That's depressing Kira.

There should be more live coding from devs working on popular projects

Shameless plug, I've written a chapter about Mastodon, content moderation, Gab, the Fediverse, and this phenomenon for an upcoming book published by UMD. And here's a video about it, complete with 🎵animation! 🎵

Finished drafting Chapter 1 of HTMLite discussing how to successfully parse most HTML files. Using html-conduit, which serves as Rhapsode's HTML parser, as my reference. Preceded with verbage pointing to XML or potentially KDL as alternate syntaxes.

Left a few TBDs mostly needing to source referenced standards like Unicode.

The rest will basically list the intended meaning of all the different attributes and elements. Is MDN creative commons?

If you are an artist taking commissions right now, I'd be delighted if you could answer to this... I'd like to have a stencil design, monochrome

I'm here for like two weeks. It feels much better than constantly being on Facebook. I'm calmer and more present.

But I really miss my #yarn and #handspinning tribe. I have noone to really share this passion with in real life, and there seems to be like I'm the only mastodon user in this niche.
Maybe I should not care and just create. It just feels a bit lonely like this.

Or maybe I'm just too stupid to navigate the #fediverse. But I'm really not that geeky Person...

Bad actors are abusing large, open-registration, low-moderation Mastodon instances in order to provide direction to the Vidar Stealer trojan horse, which steals passwords, credit card details, bitcoin wallets, etc.

If you run a large, open-registration, low-moderation instance, please consider changing at least one of those qualities.

Also, I've never seen an HTTP code 101 in my life before today.

Has anyone experienced not being able to connect to a service on your local network using the public IP address? Like, I can connect fine over the LAN, and if I can connect fine from outside of the network. However, ssh connections work fine using the public address, and on other networks I've accessed multiple different services via public IP while on that service's network. It's just this particular network is cursed by gremlins or something...

Desperate request/screaming into the void

Please, move from Twitch to an alternative like Owncast so I can stop having to go to Twitch for streaming content while I work. Everyday I visit directory.owncast.online hoping for more.

Julian: I don’t need gasoline to burn this place down.
Julian: All I need are these two hands and a lack of adult supervision.

Very rare for me, but I have the *perfect* coffee buzz going right now.

I'm having an issue with my JupyterHub server (using "The Littlest Jupyter Hub" [tljh]) where the kernel websocket keeps disconnecting and reconnecting *every second*.

Can anyone think of a generic reason why this is happening? i.e. I don't think it's a problem with tljh, but I think it's a server/networking problem. I've been troubleshooting this for a while, so shouting into the fedi-void for help...
