Dammit Apple, I loved Dark Sky and used it in a web browser every day 😢 https://9to5google.com/2020/03/31/apple-kills-dark-sky-android/
@nathandyer SHOOT Darksky has been my main weather app since 2018. I love the rain graphs they have.
@nathandyer Apple used to don an aura of creativity. But buying something simply to pry it away from existing users of a competing platform? There seems to be nothing creative about that to me. Instead this reeks of a destructive business model and a good example of how vendor lock-in practices of rent-seeking monoliths add nothing to the economy.
@mplammers Yes, I agree completely. At one point I would have definitely considered myself a fan (at least of their products, not their policies regarding openness and free software - although credit where it's due, they pushed the music industry to kill DRM for music purchases), but I'm not a fan of what they've been doing in recent history.
@nathandyer poo. I really like DarkSky.
@gairsty Me too!
