Gleaned from the awesome @ellearmageddon@twitter.com:

A resource to be aware of right now is aidaccess.org/.

They send the medications necessary to perform a safe, at-home medical abortion to people in countries where abortion access is heavily restricted.

Including the US.

In terms of organizing, here are the states that have trigger laws that will criminalize 1st/2nd trimester abortions once RvW is overturned:

Arkansas
Idaho
Kentucky
Louisiana
Mississippi
Missouri
North Dakota
Oklahoma
South Dakota
Tennessee
Texas
Utah
Wyoming

Look for state races to overturn such laws and DEFINITELY look for aid groups providing legal and medical support to women there.

I also want to talk about protest vs. direct action. Protest in this case, I'm very sorry to say, will be ineffectual. The SC is not beholden to public opinion, and frankly, there is no reasonable way the White House or Congress will do anything either.

So it is direct action and mutual aid that come into play here.

Here's another resource for at-home abortion: plancpills.org/

uspol

Birdsite, but this thread has links to local abortion funds in the states listed above: nitter.net/leahbarteldes/statu

uspol

No kidding, start putting aside a mutual aid fund right now. Figure out what you can afford, and mark that money as reserved for someone who will need help. A group or individual will need it more than you in the days to come.

For folks here who are thinking "Ugh get this out of my tech chat space," you have entirely missed the social justice aspect of open source technology. You can mute this if you wish, but technology that does not protect or uplift others isn't worth having.

@mttaggart Thank you for looking up all this stuff and sharing it. I'm out of spoons.

uspol

@alstev It's not my pleasure, but it is the literal least I can do to help, protect, and support.

uspol

@mttaggart @alstev I’m in Canada watching in dismay. Sorry it’s come to this. I take heart in the fact that the majority of Americans — 60% I think — still support access to abortion. The Senate — and by extension the USSC — has such a democratic deficit right now. I don’t know how that can be overcome. One nation under God has morphed into entrenched, antidemocratic rule by minority religious interests. Fight the ruling. But reform/abolish the Senate too.

uspol

@Megaloteuthis @mttaggart Yeah, my husband is Canadian and it's incredibly frustrating for him here.

uspol

@mttaggart
Or you can just mute/block what you don't want to see. Additionally our CoC states that this isn't the place for political or inflammatory toots.

uspol

@Tay0 That's understood, and if this thread earned me a demerit or a strike on my record, I'll gladly take the hit.

uspol

@Tay0 Also, frankly, despite the CW label, this is not "politics." This is a human rights violation masquerading as policy, just as all the other denials of bodily autonomy have been throughout history.

@mttaggart Nice sentiment, but it's over. Theocracy complete.

I live in Arkansas. My family and I are looking at international options.

uspol

@mttaggart I'm proud that neither my home state nor my current jurisdiction of residence are on that list, and entirely unsurprised that two states I temporarily lived in are.

(There are definitely reasons for the "temporarily" part.)
