It's still growing exponentially, meaning every day, we discover a larger amount of infected than the day before. Only once that flattens out, we can speak of getting this under control.
@mplammers the infection rate is only one variable, the other main variable is lethality. Last I heard anything (total infected was just under 10000 at that point) it was only ~2.5%.
SARS was 9% as a frame of reference.

OTOH, the CDC site https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html seems to have regularly updated and acceptably GOOD information on the status of #2019_nCoV 😛
