I would like to share my personal blog:

Shout out to @mike and @kev for the excellent guide. Only took a few hours (I'm slow). I'm sure there are some mistakes, etc. I welcome any feedback!

There is a whole smattering of software devs on the fediverse whose software I use. Some I had already been using when I discovered the dev was on the fediverse and some I discovered their software by seeing them on the fediverse. Anyways, I think it is pretty neat.

Day 4 of the 2021 Series:

Because I'm still toting around my blog posts from the old days, I wanted to bring them across when I migrated from write.as to Jekyll. Took me a bit of futzing around, but eventually I got there. Here's how.

Day 3 of the 2021 Series:

I've followed the instructions that @kev so graciously wrote, and have migrated my page over to Jekyll.

If you have COMPLETED please let me know so I can add you to the hall of fame I'm adding to the site.

I need you name, URL and the month/year you completed it please.

Boosts appreciated.

Day 2 of the 2021 Series:

Haiku has recently acknowledged their work on an ARM port of their OS. I'm anxiously waiting to try it.

Hm, I WAS in a meeting and got bored and decided to multitask and work on a project I've got going. Just realized that the meeting ended, and I have no idea when. I hope they didn't say anything important.

It's hard doing even the most remedial of IT tasks when you have a four year old playing with your hair and tapping you on the head. Occasionally putting a finger in your eye.

Controversial Opinion

The best file manager is your terminal.

This article asks some really important questions that need to be answered if Linux is going to see wider adoption. It reminds me of the weird Linux commercials IBM did years back that failed to really talk about Linux in a productive way. I'm sure there's a better way to do it.

Just saw this on Kickstarter, and the first thought through my head was, "I could probably build that myself pretty easily!" Especially for €139. Given, I don't care about the built in AI species recognition. My biggest problem is it gets pretty hot here in Arizona, and keeping any SBCs running in 120F/49C is something I haven't figured out yet.

Just watched Shadow in the Cloud. That was a profoundly weird movie. It feels like a committee couldn't make a decision on the plot and decided just to throw everything in.

Day 1 of the 2021 Series:

I'm doing it again. I hope you're all willing to follow along on this challenge with me. Again.

Reading the news, and I can't help but think of Tom Arnold's line from True Lies:

"Ballsy. Stupid, but ballsy."

Considering the fact that Facebook is already under increased scrutiny right now, and there is definitely more than one politician already looking to break the company up into little bits due to anti-trust violations, this move at this time seems especially stupid. Certainly shows a devil-may-care attitude about the whole thing though. Glad I've never used WhatsApp.

I want to say "thank you" to . There are plenty of toots here which I strongly disagree with. But the bottom line is, that behind each of those toots is a good-hearted individual. So thank you, for being you.

@kev One thing that's interesting to me right out of the gate is the uncompressed size of my blog (I tested it for 512kb.club went from 394.5 KB to 265.1 KB without any other changes. I assume it's mostly from the fonts, but I haven't had a chance to look into it with any depth.

I grabbed the simple.css @kev recently released and just dropped it as is right into my write.as hosted blog.

Of course, Kev is good at that whole css thing, and I'm objectively terrible at it, so I'd like to pilfer as much of his work as I can. Thoughts about how the blog looks and works with the unmodified simple.css applied?
